Left April 24th for April 2017 stay
I took my fiancé here as a surprise night away - it was PERFECT. When we arrived, I was just as shocked and surprised as my fiancé. The effort put into this place you can see as soon as you walk through the gate and into the garden. The small touches like the hamper with tea bags, coffee, crisps etc., the bottle of prosecco in the fridge, just everything added to a perfect stay. We went to Tesco to buy some dinner to cook and all the utensils you can think of are in the kitchen. We couldn't get over how everything could fit into such a small place. We used the fire inside the cabin at night where logs etc. are provided. Overall, such a lovely, peaceful stay! We're looking forward to booking the treehouse next!

Truly loved this magical secret garden. I booked it for a sunrise birthday getaway for my boyfriend and he was amazed! The hot tub was perfect for relaxing after a days waking in the local woods. Michelle and Chris have really thought of everything for the amazing space!

We stayed here for a few nights after our Wedding and we couldn't have asked for anything more! The Secret Garden has everything we needed for a romantic break including lots of thoughtful little touches. In fact we had only booked for two nights but when we were there we couldn't resist booking for an extra night - it was just too lovely to leave!

Left on Apr 7, 2017 for a stay in Apr 2017My boyfriend and I had the most lovely stay at the secret garden, celebrating his 25th birthday. Chris was there when we arrived and although a few hours early, was very attentive in taking his time out to allow an early check in and to show us everything we needed to know around the premises. The cabin had everything we needed to make lovely meals, and the hamper and bottle of prosecco left for us made us feel so welcome and went down a treat! The bed was incredibly comfortable and being able to fall asleep under the stars make it even more so. I have seen in previous reviews that the cabin lacked TV etc however not having a TV is the reason I found it so appealing to ensure me and my partner spent quality time with one another. Spending the evening making a meal, playing card games and gazing at the stars from the hot tub with a bottle of complimentary prosecco made the experience for me and the benefits of that quality time we rarely get definitely outweighed watching TV (which you can do at home!).The pub opposite was very welcoming and attentive and we spent a lovely evening there before returning to the secret garden. The cabin itself is about 10 minute drive from Whitstable beach and 20 minutes away from a lovely town called Chillham, both of which we visited and made the trip all the more worth while. We definitely reccomend Kent Cottage Holidays and hope to return to try out the treehouse! Thank you Michelle and Chris. x

At first on arrival, the Kent Cottage holiday site doesn't look enticing. Initially I was worried about whether or not I made the right decision. But, when I entered the gate to our stay, my worries fled...The first thing to welcome us was the little garden, with wood burner and hot tub in the corner. I opened the door to the lodge, found a lovely basket filled with treats from Kent. The bed had a 'skylight' (window directly above), which me and my partner loved. We luckily had clear skies. We were provided towels, robe slippers for the tub; it was fairly chilly outside, I was surprised at how well the tub kept hot. With the lights in the garden and how cosey the lodge was. It made it a remarkable night for me and my partner.Thank you Michelle and Chris

A cosy little hideaway full of fun and novelty, It's wonderful to sleep under the stars, wallow in the hot tub and breakfast on a toadstool table. Leave your cynicism at the garden gate. There is everything you need to hole up together, with a beautiful woods on the doorstep and an easy trip into Canterbury and Whitstable. 2 lovely pubs, close by, with great food too, all you need for a getaway break with a sprinkle of enchanted amusement thrown in. Spent 2 nights in the garden and it lived up to all we expected, got really lucky with the weather, clear blue skies!. The hosting is really friendly and helpful and a lot of thought has gone into the whole experience. Very grateful and glad to have been secret gardeners!"
Stunning isn't even close...

I love quiet, I love enchanted and I love a hot tub, so when I had to opportunity to stay overnight at 'A Secret Garden' I was thrilled. I had the full experience, including the booking process, and it couldn't have been any smoother. The website hosts an easy to use booking system and once booked they send you everything you need via email including arrival procedures and pre planning options for things to do in the area.

We arrived around 4pm and were met by Chris, the fabulous creator of these properties and were given the basics and left to explore the Secret Garden. The property has its own beautiful wooden door which opens out into the extremely private and secluded garden that is yours for the stay. The garden was everything we had hoped for and had the most magical and enchanted touches. The palm trees and branches were filled with solar powered dragonflies, flowers and other lights which came to life at nightfall. There were some water features that soothed us to sleep and again were lit up by lights as soon as the skies darkened. There is a gorgeous magical seating area made of bright oversized mushrooms which had two seats and a table. The seating sat next to the wooden hot tub, the hot tub is left on so can be used the minute you arrive ,which of course we took full advantage of!
The hot tub sits in the corner where the sun shines its last rays of light until sun set but even in the cold it wouldn't make a difference as the heat of the tub keeps you toasty and perfectly sits two. You also have use of a fire pit which you can cook on or just toast marshmallows under the stars, all you need to bring is your own charcoal and BBQ treats to cook.

Inside the property will take your breath away, I can't think of any other way to describe it. Every details and touch has had so much love and thought put into it and no expenses have been spared. The kitchen area has everything you need and has been adapted in unique little ways to get the most storage possible out of the area. There was a welcome hamper in the kitchen with some delicious treats and produce from Kent companies and a lovely thoughtful bottle of bubbly chilling in the fridge. The shower room had robes and slippers for us to use and fresh towels on the heated rail. I had to look twice when I turned the shower on later in evening... I will leave that one as a surprise...

The sitting area was full of themed comfortable cushions on a sofa that you sunk into and could sit and watch the garden from through the huge windows. The walls are themed with scenic and beautiful forest images and the walls have been designed to give a cave feel so you don't even feel like you are indoors. The bed, wow, just wow. The bed area extends out into the garden with a window for a ceiling and two huge side windows so you can watch stars and be a part of the secret garden all night. There was lots of drawer and cupboard storage perfect for 2 for a long weekend which blended in with the theme. A forest themed table and 2 chairs also separates the kitchen area and sitting area. There were some well thought homely touches which we really loved and made us feel so welcome.

We met Michelle later in the evening who gave us some background to the ideas and was absolutely lovely, unfortunately (for me not for bookings!) the treehouse and lodge were booked so I could only see them from the outside, but even a small glimpse was enough to make me want to come back for more. We felt like we had been at a spa weekend and felt so relaxed and pampered this morning. Even with the other properties booked you would never even know anyone was staying anywhere near you, it is so private and quiet it was like staying in forest! Everything about the place is magical and we will be back, if we can get in! Bookings are already flowing in so please, if you want romantic, if you want private, if you want magical and luxury in a unique stay then this is the place....
