Devon Dens is a NEW woodland garden retreat, surrounded by woodland and the deep lanes of West Devon. The off-grid sanctuary is home to a charming cabin- allowing up to 4 guests to unwind, connect with nature and explore the breathtaking countryside.

Set at the heart of Ruby country, there are many routes in the area perfect for walking, cycling and horse-riding. There is a 12 mile trail going straight from the gate, passing Roadford reservoir and the village of Bratton Clovelly where you can find a great local pub. Roadford Lake is nearby and adds to the large variety of activities available including bird watching, archery, water sports and much more. Okehampton is located just 8 miles from the woodland. The cabin is 10 miles from the Devon and Cornwall border.

Inside the super-cosy cabin there is a double bed, a living area with a double sofa bed, dining area seating 4 people, plus a funky private shower and compost loo. The cabin contains a wood burner, 2 ring gas burner with grill, a hot outdoor shower, washing up sink, BBQ / Fire pit, all essential crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment, wine tumblers, maps, solar PV for lighting and power capacity for 1 device. There are also a number of Jigsaws, books and games to keep everyone entertained.

Guest will need to bring their own bedding (as there is only a protector sheet over the mattress) and food. Onsite guests can buy: Bio-logs and wood for the wood burner - £4.50 a bag. Locally made charcoal - £4 a bag. A grocery basket of locally sold food- ask owners for more details.

It is the plan that once finished, Devon Dens will eventually offer six different structures with a communal kitchen and shower area, wood fired sauna, pizza oven and bike hire. There is currently no mobile phone reception or Wi-Fi on the site. In extreme cold weather, the outdoor shower and washing up area may not be available.

Whilst the site is still being worked on, there will be a reduced rate. The prices are for up to 4 people in the cabin (minimum two night stay)- Nightly rate: £70. Three nights: £200. Weekly rate: £450.

Children will be welcome from 2018 (once the grounds are established and more suitable for younger guests).

Fantastic autumn break

This country den stay was just what we both needed. A place to escape the hustle and bustle of daily city life, social media and any kind of digital contact with the outside world for three nights. The den itself is a beautifully designed and crafted building and you can see a lot of thought, time and love has gone into making this little hideaway simply amazing. The wood burner kept us cozy and rediscovering scrabble (other games, books, activities and a guitar were also provided) made the evenings fly by. Jo was the perfect host and nice little touches like messaging us to ask how we were enjoying our stay made it all the more special. Our personal highlight of the stay was to have a piping hot shower on a cold morning whilst gazing at the beautiful surroundings. We would and have recommended this place to our friends and family because we had such a great time whilst there..... i&k
