The setting is described poetically by one guest as: "Jackdaws flying past all day long, sparrowhawks feeding their young on the quarry face opposite, the occasional fox strolling along the quarry top at dusk, shoals of trout swimming past (throw in a few pieces of bread and see the water boil with fish) .....Lovely bedrooms and bathrooms, lakeside balconies (perfect for outdoor breakfasts, barbeques or an early evening drink)".

Well what can I say, the lodge is truly amazing. When we first walked in there was a real 'Wow' factor. Everything and I mean everything has been thought about, Games, Books DVDs, extras for the dog and a truly scrummy hamper. This really is an out of this world lodge. Thank you for letting us stay in your little bit of heaven. We will be back!
Absolutely amazing

We began searching early 2016 to find a short break so we could all be together as a family at Christmas. We needed 3 bedrooms and for the property to be wheelchair accessible as mum is a wheelchair user with special needs. We also wanted to take our dog with us. We came across Jackdaw quarry lodge and it seemed to tick our requirements so we booked it.
As always whenever we book anything involving mum it was in the back of my mind all the time that maybe this wouldn’t be right or that wouldn’t be right etc. How wrong I was to worry about anything. This place is amazing.
The location is far away from towns and cities etc. with lovely views of the Cumbrian hills one side and the lodge directly outside the rear of the property. The water is blue and is a diving school so on the 27th we did see divers in the water which were fascinating to watch.
The lodge is built into the hillside and on approach looks quite small however once you enter its breathtakingly large. There are steps and a ramp from the drive to the house and although we didn’t make use of it there’s a small garden to the side and a decked area at the front with table and chairs etc. I imagine this is lovely in summer and you could eat there.
As you step into the hallway there’s a large storage cupboard a large bathroom and a bedroom all accessible for a disabled person (but equally perfect for able bodied) then the property opens out to a huge area of lounge and dining space (all beautifully decorated for Christmas with a huge tree etc) then an ample sized fully equipped kitchen. When I say fully equipped I mean it. We have been to holiday homes before and you always need to take pots, pans, extra cutlery, washing up stuff etc. Please do not pack anything there’s nothing missing in this kitchen from the scourer sponges through to knife block through to serving dishes. The dishwasher has tablets provided. There is an integrated large fridge freezer, a hob, oven and microwave. Cling film foil freezer bags etc. all there too it literally is like walking into your own kitchen at home.
The balcony is ample and lovely furniture there to use even though it was Christmas we did sit out occasionally and have a drink enjoying the peace and tranquility.
In the lounge, there is a large tv along with a PlayStation and lots of games and dvd’s etc. There are also a lot of board games and books in the property to utilise. The dining area is large and airy.
Down a flight of stairs there are 2 more beautiful bedrooms, an amazing bathroom with a large rain shower and a huge deep bath and a utility room containing a washer (soap powder provided) a dryer, ironing facilities and even a dog cage, dog toys, towels and blankets for the pooch etc. We had brought our dogs stuff and took him out when we went out so didn’t need the cage etc but a nice touch for owners who do use them. The balcony here stretches across both bedrooms and there is a hot tub there for you to enjoy.
We had a wonderful relaxed time here and wanted to rebook however its already full booked for next Christmas and I’m not surprised.
Thank you to the owners for a beautiful, relaxing few days.

Recently myself and three friends spend a fantastic girlie weekend at Jacksaw Quarry Lodge. I organised it and my friends were so impressed I have scored enough brownie points to last me years! The setting, the lodge, the standard of the bathrooms, kitchen and furnishings are fantastic. But in addition to all that there is so much thought gone into things like great TV packages, everything you could want in the kitchen, toiletries and additional towels for the hot tub. We loved the hot tub as well as the full width doors opening the whole living area out to the balcony. We were lucky with the weather but even without good weather theses doors allow appreciation of the setting.
We spent most of the weekend relaxing at the lodge as we loved it so much! And definitely didn't want to leave.
I have already booked again with different friends who saw our pictures and really wanted to go. I can't wait!
I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone!
A wonderful weekend!

My family and I recently stayed at Jackdaw Quarry Heights and loved every minute! The welcome hamper and other little touches such as board games, walking guides and toiletries hampers just added to the 'luxury' feel of this lodge. We stayed for a long weekend and visited Lancaster and Sizergh Castle as the lodges are in a great location to explore the area.
The information we received from Graeme beforehand was really thorough too - communication was excellent and every question was answered. We had a great time in the hot tub watching the sun set over the quarry each night - it was so picturesque! The value for money is great too. We loved our stay so much that we have booked again for next year. Thanks for a wonderful weekend away!
In a word....AMAZING!

My husband and I (and our dog) have just returned from a week at Clearwater Heights lodge with his parents and to say that we are devastated at having to leave is an understatement. The lodge was absolutely wonderful. With the amazing views, fantastic facilities & décor, and the lovely local area, I don't think anything could have made this week more enjoyable and relaxing.
The lodge is beautifully furnished and has all the amenities you could wish for, but what made it extra special for us was the added touches that were provided, like the Welcome Pack, the DVDs/books/games, and the dog/child friendly additions. It's clear that no expense has been spared to make this accommodation amazingly luxurious and relaxing.
We spent many relaxing hours sitting on the deck & balcony watching the local wildlife and the diving school in the quarry, even enjoying a BBQ or two.
The place is ideally situated for anyone who likes walking or diving but if, like us, you just want somewhere to relax and unwind I couldn't think of a better place.
Simply stunning - We'll be back!

We stayed here at the end of November 2014 and fell in love with Jackdaw Quarry from the moment we walked through the door. What a beautiful place. From the upside down layout of the lodge, which works so well, the attention to detail both inside and out, in that we had pretty much everything we could have needed and the fabulous welcome pack of bread, milk, wine and a fruit bowl waiting for us when we arrived we couldn't have asked for more. It really does feel like a home from home and we felt really sad when we had to leave. In fact we loved it so much we have booked it return early 2015 to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The balconies are just great to sit and chill on, even when it's a bit cool outside & they showcase the quarry beautifully. My husband had great fun throwing the fish some bread from there, along with watching the divers from Capernwray. Our dog had a great time & settled down really quickly- he loved sitting out on the balconies too. It's a special place & we'd defy anyone not to fall for its charms. Graeme is a fabulous host and so helpful throughout your stay, it's clear he wants his guests to enjoy the quarry and the surrounding area. Their love for the place is obvious & rightly so.
Wish we could have had more time!

What an absolute find!! A beautiful lodge set in the most peaceful idilyic surroundings! The lodge itself is the nicest self catering place we've ever stayed. Super stylish with all the latest mod cons without compromising on comfort. It is really was home from home, we really wanted to stay longer! I'm disappointed I didn't take my two dogs now...given the spacious utility room already containing a cage with all the doggy bits you'll need to cater for your canine pals! Graeme and Allison are perfect hosts, thank you both again for the hospitable extras and all your advice run up and throughout our stay! We will be back :-)
Feels like Heaven....

Utterly miserable - is how we felt at having to leave... You arrive and open the doors to a little piece of heaven. It's as exciting as Christmas when you are a child discovering all the amazing things that add heart to this home - bread, fruit, wine, milk - all the equipment you could possibly need or want and where to even begin with the outdoor activities, the views, the wildlife... The beds, bedding, decor, books, games, smart TV's, DVD's, the shower you could spend a day in... Henry our dog had his own bedroom/cage in the utility room! with all of these things to hand should it have rained you wouldn't mind if it did. We had wonderful weather and the night we arrived so did remote control fans for our rooms should we have needed them. The customer service was of a standard I have never experienced with this type of holiday before. Graeme & Allison and every person we met couldn't have been more helpful, cheerful and knowledgeable - even the fish in the quarry are friendly! I would challenge anyone to stay here and be happy about returning to the 'real world'.
