High Seas Hobbits

The Hobbits, which have been described as smarties tubes on their sides, are fun and unusual. They are fully insulated to keep guests cosy and dry. One Hobbit has a double bed and two singles, while the other most comfortably sleeps 2 in a double or 2 singles. A kettle, microwave, fridge, crockery and cutlery are provided, even a TV. They are set in their own field and enjoy complete privacy. It is a restful place and children can run freely and safely.

A few paces away you will find a novel toilet. A huge disused whisky barrel from one of Scotlands Distilleries has been transformed into a 'one off' loo. With its quirky appearance, this toilet has been officially awarded Home Throne Award' in 2012. The shower room comes complete with a full-length mirror, seat, shelving and hooks - all furnished with authentic rustic charm.

Each hobbit has a dining area with chairs, tables and private fire pit.

Dogs are welcome in the hobbits only by prior arrangement if they are quiet and under control.

Prices start at £55 a night for 2, with a small extra fee for a third or fourth person charged at an extra £5 per person per night. Single nights possible.

Coastal Carriage

A vintage rail carriage makes a fun and romantic alternative accommodation with panoramic views of the Moray Firth from its hill top location. It offers privacy, charm and character. A woodburner will help you keep cosy inside and will help you cook as well as the well-equipped cupboards. There is also a single gas stove for making a quick cuppa too.

There is a sumptuous double bed plus a shower room (with water heated on the gas ring or stove) and a composting toilet a few steps away, or a vintage night potty inside for nights you don't want to venture out.

The water comes from the property's own spring and is good for cooking, but you may wish to bring your own drinking water. There is no electricity so a good opportunity to leave those gadgets behind. There is a selection of lanterns and candles and a cool box with fresh ice packs every day.

The view is fabulous, good for dolphin spotting and on a clear day you can count the Sutherland hills on the other side of the water. Games, cards and magazines are supplied for your entertainment. Think simplicity, think lazy mornings under the covers gazing out to sea. You will long remember the sound of the cows grazing around you, the skylarks singing above you and the wild rugged coastline of the Moray Firth.

£75 per night. 2-night minimum stay and 10% for stays of 4 nights or more

Harvest Hut

The Harvest Hut is nestled in its own grassy field and sleeps, 2/3 people. Once used as accommodation for farm workers, it now offers a cosy wood burning stove and bright furnishings. Cooking facilities include a 2 burner hob, kettle and all your utensils. The hut is totally off grid with its own compost loo, solar power lighting and a shower just a short stroll away.
