Mountain bikers heaven in the S Wales valleys. Lodge, trails + dirt jump course. Stay in bunkhouse, wooden lodges or camping pods.

The Afan Valley Mountain Biking Centre, in the South Wales Valleys at Bryn Bettws, is a great choice for Mountain Biking short breaks, with over 12 purpose built mountain biking routes and its very own repair shop. With 3 choices of accommodation this is great for friends, families and groups.

The location of Bryn Bettws is stunning, perched high on an eagles nest location on a pine tree clad mountain. Locally there is lots to do with Go Ape Marjam just a short drive or bike ride away. Or enjoy a day out at Margam Country Park, where you can visit the castle, narrow gauge railway and rare breeds farm. If you wish to challenge the old grey cells then what better than an escape room, try Breakout Live in Swansea!

Back at Bryn Bettws, you can find the lodge, which as well as housing the bunkhouse, (which sleeps 38 in en-suite rooms for 2, 4 or 6 people,) also offers a cafe. This is a comfortable and friendly place to meet and chill out after a long day on the trails or on the dirt track and serves coffees, teas, thirst quenchers and light snacks all through the day. Evening meals are also available here but need to be booked 1 week in advance.

There are also handmade wooden cabins available to rent that sleep 5 people in one twin room and 3 single futons. These are swiss cabin style buildings with a well equipped kitchenette and modern bathroom.

New to the site are 2 wooden pods. These have heating, lighting and electric and sleep up to 3 people. Wild camping is available for those who wish to spend the night outdoors under the stars.

There is a bike wash, European level 4x track, great trails from the site, bike lock cabin and more.

Prices in the lodge bunkhouse start at £30 a night per person including breakfast or £41.50 per person for bed, breakfast and 2 course evening meal. £10 can be paid for spare beds to make a room private. The Wooden Cabins can be booked for half a week at £300 or full week £420. Dogs welcome at £10 a night. Camping Pods are £40 per pod per night and wild camping is £6 per person per night, which includes access to showers.
