110 year old Dutch Barge Salmestone is proud to be the only floating accommodation in the medieval town of Sandwich in Kent. Located on a prime waterfront location it sleeps up to 6 people.

Lovingly restored from scratch over 12 twelve years and with 1000 square feet of living space the barge has a spacious feel to it and offers all mod cons you could need including a full kitchen, shower room, adult sized bunk beds, sofa bed and master bedroom with en-suite facilities. She's snug and cosy too, with full central heating throughout, a Heritage AGA cooker and chunky Victorian iron radiators. There is a TV and Wifi available plus your canine friends are welcome aboard too! This is a great place for a romantic break for a couple or for friends and family to stay together.

Locally there is plenty to see and do, including a visit to the Roman Fort at Richborough, the White Mill Windmill in Sandwich itself or the Guildhall Museum which houses a variety of displays. A trip to nearby Canterbury is a must with a visit to its famous cathedral and roman museum top of your to do list!

Children and dogs welcome. Parking for 2 cars.

Access to the barge is via a gangplank. There is a vertical ladder up to the gangplank and the a long gang plank with slip free surface and edging on the plank, with hand rails on both sides. For guests who have dogs please note you will need to pick you dog up to the top of the ladder before your dog descends the gangplank. She is sadly not wheelchair accessible. It is important to note Salmestone is on a tidal river and the difference between high water and low water is 2m. Therefore at low tide the gang plank can be steep. There are hand rails and access is quite safe but care must be taken with children and dogs and with suitcases on and off at low tide.
