Fall in Love with the British Countryside with these Quirky Properties

Today I wanted to talk to you about the UK, and how much it has to offer! I know it’s hard to appreciate its beauty sometimes, as you wake up yet again to grey clouds, traffic and wet, smelly socks drying on radiators – but how can we not appreciate the stunning loch’s of Scotland, the multiple shades of green that the Lake District forests have to offer and even the hustle and bustle of some of the greatest cities in the world such as London and Manchester. Where else could you find people having picnics in parks with shorts on in merely 20 degree weather, or are almost always guaranteed the smell of freshly fallen rain when you’re taking the dogs out in the morning?  Check out some of our properties below that I believe showcase some of that British countryside beauty, and allow them to charm you back into falling in love with the UK again

jackdawJACKDAW QUARRY LODGES - Lancashire

Jackdaw Quarry Lodges are located in Carnforth, Lancashire. They are eco lodges set on the stunning hillside, overlooking the clear, crisp water of the Jackdaw Quarry. You can easily cycle and hike to nearby lakes and dales – and to top it off, you can enjoy the sunset from your very own hot tub! After you’ve cooked up a storm on the BBQ of course.

chilternsTHE CHILTERNS VIEW - Oxfordshire

Further south in Oxfordshire, we have the Chiltern’s View,a secluded private lodge overlooking miles of fields, perfect for birdwatching (binoculars are even provided!). Wallingford, home of Agatha Christie, is only two miles away. This is a no kids property, so

imagine waking up to the peaceful sound of the local wildlife and the bubbling of your own private Jacuzzi – bliss!

downonthefarmDOWN ON THE FARM - Aberdeenshire, Scotland

At Down on the Farm, chose to stay in a “hobbit” (described as a smartie tube on it’s side), an old rail carriage or a harvest hut in rural Scotland! Apart from the obvious breathtaking views – you may spot some dolphins! The hobbit huts have an award winning…loo! The converted whisky barrel won the Home Throne award in 2012.

The final property I chose to include is located in Saltash, Devon. The pokelogin cottage speaks for itself, with spectacular views of the Tamar Estuary. This property is as beautiful externally as it is inside, with solid oak windows and stairs and bold use of colour. Imagine cosying up with your loved one in front of the log fire here. Unbeatable.

I hope you enjoyed some of the properties I chose. Instead of thinking about Marbella,
Rome or Kho Phi Phi as your next getaway, why not load up the car and make a short trip to
one of our cosy properties right on your doorstep – it couldn’t get easier than that! Check
