Humans & H2O

sunbornHumans & H2O

This week I want to talk to you about water. A necessity for all living beings, from you, to the lions in Namibia, to the tall trees of New Zealand – we all rely on it in one way or another – our body is even made up of 50-75% of it! It is home for some and a small sanctuary for others.

Since ancient times, us as humans have been drawn to water as an element and have used it in many ways; in Roman times, baths were an important cultural act, and in many branches of Chinese and Indian medicine it was believed to be essential in creating physical harmony. The Ganges river that flows through India and Bangladesh is an example of the spiritual side that water can have, as it is considered the sacred river of Hinduism. An average of 20 million people visit it each year and it is now also a popular tourist attraction.

One of the most interesting articles I have previously read about our affinity with water is regarding the colour, with many believing that we are attracted to the colour blue and It’s various hues as they are known to reflect calmness, peacefulness and unity. It is also known to inspire us to be more creative and connected.

Here at QuirkyAccom.com we have the pleasure to feature many properties that are within close proximity to water; be it a stunning lake, a relaxing sandy beach or a rapid running river. Take a look at the quirky accommodation below and let me know if you can imagine yourself waking up to the sound of the element loved and treasured by so many.
