Stay in a Treehouse

bensfieldStaying in a treehouse can be the culmination of our childhood dreams. Yet lots of the properties that we feature go far beyond the basic format. Some are so luxurious that you can soak in a hot tub on the terrace. Others are really quirky, even shaped like a nest, a ball, a mirrored cube or a tent hanging in a tree.

We have, within the QuirkyAccom directory, treehouses in 26 countries - from the Amazon rainforest to beachside in Tanzania, at an adventure park in Germany and including several in the UK. It's worth thinking ahead - they get booked up well in advance.

Talk about making an entrance, at Bensfield Treehouse in Sussex you cross a 24 metre rope bridge across a pond to reach it.

Chewton Glen Treehouse Suites are the height of luxury in a wonderful New Forest setting.

Free Spirit Spheres can be found amongst enchanted coastal rainforest on Vancouver Island.

Treehotel in Sweden, tops the imaginative stakes. You find treehouses like these anywhere else in the world. A UFO, the MirrorCube (pictured) and a suspended cabin reached by a bridge through the trees, The Blue Cone (which is red) and the wonderful Bird's Nest.

Then there are treehouses which allow you to be at one with nature. Back of Beyond's Dehigaha Ela in Sri Lanka is in a beautiful spot and despite its rusticness, this place oozes quality too. I've visited myself and would highly recommend it. This group of properties aims to show visitors the beauty of Sri Lanka away from the tourists.

There are even treehouses for backpackers! Visit Olympos in Turkey and stay at Kadirs Top Treehouses in shared accommodation. Breakfast and dinner are included and there are plenty of activities to do and people to hang out with.
