Description

Hapuku Lodge & Tree Houses offers luxury accommodation in one of the most spectacular settings in New Zealand.

Nestled 30 feet (10m) above the ground in the canopy of a native Manuka grove, each treehouse has spectacular views of Kaikoura's dramatic mountains and surf-washed Pacific coastline.

As with the lodge accommodation, the treehouses are meant to be a contemporary complement to the natural environment. Their exteriors are clad in native woods and copper shingles. Large windows bring the tree canopy right into the bedroom. The property has originally designed furniture which was crafted by local woodworking friends.

There are one bedroom treehouses, which are luxurious with couples spa-bath, TV and music, wood burner, seating area and comfortable beds. Each has a rain fountain shower that opens directly onto the tree-top deck. There are also lower branch smaller accommodations at a lower price or these can be combined with the one bedroom treehouses to make a family sized one. Or a larger treehouse for up to 4 with woodburner.

Hapuku Lodge is a great base camp from which to undertake a marine safari. World famous whale watching, giant albatross encounters, playful dolphin and seal swimming, sea kayaking, and deep-sea fishing are available year round.

For those staying off the high seas, options include Night Sky Tours, Maori Cultural Tours, scenic flights, horseback riding, biking, great hiking (or tramping as it's called in NZ), and the Baby Seal Colony just a short drive from the Lodge. Wine regions, north and south, are just a scenic drive away.

You can request an extra bed or cot for a child for an extra cost at time of booking. The number of these will be dependent on which room you choose.
