Helmsdale Station is a working railway station just north of Inverness. Helmsdale Station House is the old stationmaster's accommodation which has been recently refurbished and sleeps up to 12 people. All profit is used to maintain the station house or to assist community projects.
The property is located in west Helmsdale near Inverness in Highland. A few minutes walk from the station house will bring you to the harbour plus there are plenty of walking trails along the shore and up the surrounding hillsides.
Originally built in 1871, Helmsdale Station House offers accommodation on 2 levels. Downstairs is the old ticket office which is now the living room, the well equipped kitchen/dining room, scullery and a wet room with facilities for the disabled.
Upstairs are 4 bedrooms sleeping up to 10 people, a bathroom and a drying room. Facilities include radio, DVD, CD, WiFi and washing machine. There is a double sofa bed in the living room for those who cannot use stairs. Outside is a small fenced garden.
No smoking and no pets. Parking available. Bed linen and towels provided. Initial supply of fuel for wood burner included.
A week at the station house will cost between £550 and £645 depending on the time of year. Enquire for shorter breaks off peak. There is a 10% discount for guests who arrive by transport other that a private car or if you spend half a day maintaining the station grounds and there is a 20% discount if you do both.
