Mojo is moored on the saltings at Mersea island, which are tidal, so sometimes there will be water around the boat. The site is an SSI (site of special scientific interest) and home to numerous wading birds. It is also a RAMSAR site which covers the preservation of salt marshes around the world. There are several lovely walks on the island and the coastal walk around the island is a great idea for those who are really active. Mersea was historically a fishing village and Mersea oysters are famous and deck the tables of many london restaurants. There are a number of places to eat locally, many showcasing the local seafood, be warned though, you can expect generous portions, but plate sharing is a common sight.
Mojo Houseboat is suitable for adults only, who are comfortable with a short flight of stairs to access the boat, and a small flight of stairs down to the overnight accommodation.
