Hidden Valley Yurt 1

Llanishen, Chepstow, Monmouthshire, Wales

Lovely yurt with large terrace and private kitchen and overlooks the stream, near Chepstow. Closed in winter.

The Quirky Tour

A beautiful valley with brook opens out into a meadow housing a collection of spaced yurts with a communal outside kitchen area between them. This yurt is in a corner close to the stream so you can be lulled to sleep by the sounds of it and was my favourite spot.

I recommend the wonderful walk around the valley to take in the views and wildlife. We enjoyed a visit to Raglan Castle and Monmouth within a short drive or there are more local pubs as well. Although the yurts were not open for my winter visit I can vouch for the fact this is a stunning glamping location.

  • Relax and dine al fresco on your terrace taking in the countryside views.
  • The yurt has its own private toilet and shower just outside.

Set deep within 80 acres of meadow and woodland you can find this Mongolian yurt sleeping up to 6 people on the edge of the beautiful Wye Valley, near Chepstow. The yurt site has a Quality Assured award.

Yurt 1 sleeps 6 and comes with a super king-size bed as well as a Mongolian day bed and 3 single futons. It has its own well equipped kitchen (with full size cooker, microwave and large fridge freezer), plus a coffee table and central wood burning stove. Outside you can find your own private toilet and outdoor shower.

Yurt 1 is the first yurt in the field, is close to the stream and is located a little away from the other four yurts. The view from the front door looks down the length of the yurt field, while the view from the back door overlooks the stream. It offers more privacy, closer to facilities and is more sheltered by the trees, perfect for those that prefer a little shade.

Outside you can relax on the large deck and enjoy a drink or two at the quirky table (made from an old sewing machine base). A bench seat and two steamer chairs ensure there is space for all the family, whilst the built in stone BBQ is the perfect way to cook dinner. Of an evening warm yourself around the chimenea. What better way to disconnect from the world and reconnect with family and friends!

There is plenty to do and see on this farm site with children loving the freedom of outdoor space and adults loving the tranquility and beauty of the area. Enjoy many walks around the grounds, taking time to spot the farm animals including the long haired cattle, Soay sheep and many chickens. Challenge the children to a game of badminton or boules or make a den in the forest before splashing in the river. After a busy day enjoy a stroll to the local village for dinner in the pub.

Further afield you can visit the towns of Monmouth, Tintern and Raglan. Those looking for adventure can try canoeing, rock-climbing, mountain biking and paddleboarding all within 10 miles of the site. Alternatively take in some culture with a visit to Tintern Abbey, where you can explore the ruins before enjoying a cuppa at one of the local village cafes or head to the rugged terrain of the Brecon Beacons, just a 30 minute drive away.

Minimum 2 night stay with anyday arrival. If you wish to book a hot tub for your stay this can be done at a cost of £150 for a weekend of midweek stay or £250 for a weekly stay.

No pets. No group bookings.
