Number 36 High Street, was Axbridge's former Red Lion Inn for at least 250 years and has been lovingly and sensitively converted from a nearly derelict state in 1997. The house has an eclectic style, a cocktail bar (it was a pub once after all) and a pool table - plus 30 seat vintage cinema! It sleeps 9 guests in 5 bedrooms but extra mattresses and a sofa bed can be used to allow 16 guests.
Number 36 and the Roxy is great for intimate groups - birthday parties, family get-togethers and hen parties. Can also accommodate a small training event and workshop for example, to a maximum of 30 people. A cycling group could stay here to enjoy The Strawberry Line cycle route - an 8-mile traffic-free path on a former railway track from North Somerset to the Mendip Hills.
The house has been a great success since it became available for holidays and weekend breaks and has featured in magazines and on television, mainly due to its quirky interior which encompasses antique via vintage to a contemporary style. It has open fires (even a pretty little Georgian one in the bathroom), a 4000 book library, plus - great for entertaining a group - a pool table and cocktail bar plus a vintage 30 seat cinema.
High-quality accommodation including full self-catering facilities (also can be catered by arrangement). There is parking for 5 cars. This is a family-friendly accommodation with plenty to keep people of every generation entertained. It is a lovely area for walking and cycling and Cheddar Gorge is just 2 miles away. There is also a garden, courtyard, BBQ, ping-pong table and all home comforts. 3 open fires with logs included.
There is disabled access to the cinema. The cinema plays DVD, BlueRay, TV and via laptop and can be connected to games machines. Discuss the use of the cinema during your stay with the owners. It is also open to the public at times.

The property is partly powered by solar panels, and the renovation has been completed in line with eco-guidelines. The garden is organic.
£600 per night at weekends, midweek days at £375. Minimum of 2 nights, 3 nights on a Bank holiday weekend and 4 nights over Easter, Christmas and New Year.
