Old Summer Dairy offers a tranquil, secluded and beautiful haven with an abundance of wildlife for a lovely country retreat in West Lydford, Somerset. It is off grid with solar power yet still offer quality facilities.
Onsite there are up to five 6m furnished Belltents for occasions such as Hen parties, family gatherings, reunions or retreats, all located in a private field. There is also a timber-framed Log Cabin as seen on Channel 4's 'Cabins in the Wild' offering quirky accommodation for up to 5 in sleeping lofts.
The surrounding area - including woods, fields and beautiful meadows - is renowned for cycle routes as part of the National Cycle Network. Various National Trust gardens are within easy reach and there are a number of local nature reserves. Popular attractions to keep the whole family entertained include Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury Tor, Clarks village, RNAS Yeovilton, Haynes Motor Museum, Wells Cathedral and nearby cities such as Bath, Bristol or Exeter.
The timber-framed log cabin for 5 offers a light and luxurious back to basics self- catering experience but with all mod cons as well. It has fantastic views over the surrounding countryside to Glastonbury Tor. There are 2 double sleeping lofts and 1 single which are accessed via step ladders. There is a kitchen area with gas cooker, fridge, microwave, kettle, crockery and cutlery as well as dining table and chairs. Outside is an undercover space with a BBQ for inside/outside living. There is a shower room with toilet and sink on the ground floor.
Bedding and towels are provided. No smoking. Cot or high chair available upon request. A 4m Bell Tent can be sited outside with 2 single beds for 2 extra people by arrangement, costing £30 a night or our Crash Pads which are like American covered wagons on legs not wheels with double mattresses in for £40 per night.
Old Summer Dairy also offers 5 luxury 6m bell tents sleeping 4 each in a secluded field. It is ideal for larger groups.The main 6m bell tents offer a double bed, 2 single chair beds and storage boxes. Within the field is a timber-framed block with bathroom and kitchen facilities and a decked area with canvas awning. There are 2 showers and 2 toilets, gas oven and fridge. All cooking utensils are provided. There is also a covered barn for outdoor dining and gathering, a BBQ area and sunken firepit.
Bedding and towels supplied. Cots and high chairs available by prior arrangement. Parking. No pets. No WiFi.
The Cabin price will be £250 for 2 nights.
A 2 night weekend with all 5 Belltents sleeping up to 20 people is £990 and a 3 night weekend such as a bank holiday will be £1300. The smaller Belltent and Crash Pads can be added to the site as required making the total for the Glamping site 26.
Groups of up to 31 people possible. It may be possible to add extra camping guests to a group booking once the on-site facilities are fully booked, for £10 per person per night.
Minimum 2-night stay. The campsite is closed from October until April but the cabin is available year round.
