Working farm near Hay-on-Wye offers 3 camping pods with electric and heating. Children and dogs welcome. 1 night stay permitted.
Located on a semi-organic hill farm in rural Wales near to Hay-on-Wye, you can find 3 wooden camping pods sleeping from 2 to 5 adults with children and dogs welcome too!
The location is beautiful, with rollling green hills as far as the eye can see. Position wise, the site is perfectly placed to explore Powys, the Brecon Beacons National Park and Hereford. There is lots to see and do locally for everyone including horse riding, golf, cycling and kayaking. Take a trip to Hay-on-Wye and visit the market or attend one of their many festivals, including the well known literary festival in May.
Back on site, you can relax in your wooden pod, which comes with electric sockets and heating. Think of it as a posh tent, as apart from that it is empty, so you will still need to bring all your normal camping items, however camp beds are available to rent if you wish. There are 3 pods, 2 of which are located alongside the communal shed which houses washing up sinks, work surfaces and picnic benches.
The first pod, Bryn-Gwyn, sleeps up to 5 adults and is the largest of the pods and is suitable for disabled or less able people. This can house either 1 double camp bed and 2 singles or upto 5 single camp beds. Allt Dderw Pod can sleep up to 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 small children.
Ardwyn Pod, this one is a little different in that it has built in beds with comfortable foam mattresses, so this is a better option for the couple who prefers glamping to camping. It sleeps 2 adults but has been known to sleep 2 adults and 2 small infants. This pod is located in a more private area, but to access it you have to climb up some steps, so parking is not available alongside.
All pods are dog friendly and have a terrace area out front where you can sit and enjoy the views. They also have a blind for privacy and a sensor security light should you arrive back to the site late after a day of exploring.
There are 3 bathroom style pods that have a toilet, basin and luxury shower. There is also an out-building that houses tourist information leaflets, a fridge and freezer, plus space to store bikes.
This site is open from Easter until late October.
Cost is £43 per night for the Allt Dderw pod and the Ardwyn Pod and the Bryn-Gwyn pod is £48 per night. Prices stay the same all season. If you want to stay for 3 nights or more there is a 10% discount available.
Dogs can stay at an additional charge of £5 per night and a single camp bed is £4 per night with a double costing £9 per night.
