Wonderful Stay at North Downs Cabin 2017
by Emma
on March 27, 2017
Last weekend we had the pleasure of staying at a newly built property set in the countryside - 'North Downs Cabin'. The cabin is set in Thurnham, Kent with some amazing views across the North Downs and although set in the grounds of the owners property you really wouldn't know it. The cabin is extremely private, facing out into the woods and the owners have thought of just about everything to ensure each stay is fully catered for.

We arrived at lunch time and were met by the owners, who were absolutely lovely and they took us on a tour round the grounds and then down to the cabin. The cabin has its own pathway and once you get down to the gate it is completely enclosed with pretty fencing so if you have a dog with you, like we did, they are safe. The cabin itself is brand new and has a lovely outside decking area with table, chairs and lots of bright potted flowers. The deck also had a new BBQ which came with BBQ tools, all we needed was our own charcoal.

Inside the large double doors open into the kitchen area and contained everything needed for our stay including electric hobs, oven, fridge/freezer, cutlery, sink and some lovely homely touches. To the left of the kitchen is a cosy living space with pull out sofa bed, bright homely rug, table, flatscreen TV and DVD player, magazines, another set of table and chairs. There are also lots of information books and leaflets showing you everything the area has to offers and the routes available for walking trips.

If you have a dog with you there is also a dog blanket and bowl, we were even given some dog treats with our welcome pack! To the right of the kitchen is the main bedroom which boasts the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on! There were fresh towels, bath mats, robes, slippers, extra under bed storage and even separate towels for the jacuzzi. The shower and bathroom is just off the side of the bedroom with a brand new shower, sink, toilet and hot towel rail. The bathroom also included toiletries and a hair dryer.

Outside the garden is completely enclosed and a hot tub can be hired for those wishing to add something extra to their stay. It was freezing outside but once you get inside that tub you would think it was summer! The garden also has a shed full of loungers, BBQ equipment, dog accessories and more, which is all accessible during your stay.

There are lots of beautiful walking routes and trails in the area and the cabin has everything for the keen walker, boot warmers, boot bags and tray and a full framed map of the area with the walking routes. There was lots of wildlife too and with bird feeders scattered in the garden, we saw lots of beautiful country birds and had a few squirrels visit!

We took full advantage of the BBQ and hot tub facilities and although the weather wasn't great we didn't it feel at all, especially with the heating being so toasty in the cabin and our huge robes and slippers to pop into once we got out the tub. We spent the evening toasting marshmallows after we had eaten and it was perfect.

I would highly recommend this beautiful retreat to anyone who loves the countryside and nature, especially those with dogs or for a couple wanting a romantic getaway. It really is unique and so well hidden at the bottom of the lane. If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to get in contact and we can assure you we will definitely be visiting again because we absolutely loved this place and one night just wasn't enough!
