A peaceful campsite in Barcombe where you can enjoy wildlife and campfires. The Tree Tent and The Gridshell are truly unique. Closed in winter.

Tranquil site 5 miles north of Lewes in East Sussex with 2 secret properties, a suspended tree tent and the Gridshell cabin plus space for tents. Both of these beautiful shelters have been designed by local inventor and designer Jason Thawley and the Tree Tent was even featured on George Clarkes Amazing Spaces.
Access to the Tree Tent is via wooden stairs, and the tent is suspended between 3 sturdy oak trees on the edge of the ancient woodland that surrounds the camping meadow. From the two windows in the Tree Tent there are fantastic views across the campsite and on to the South Downs National Park. Inside you will find three single beds with a mattresses enabling you to relax and take in the canopy view, whilst gently moving with the sway of the trees. The Tree Tent has its own grass pitch where you can enjoy a campfire at your exclusive fire pit.
The Gridshell is comprised of locally sourced wooden laths of ash clad in a heavy duty cotton canvas and it will happily sleep up to 6 people. It is located in the orchard part of the campsite with its own firepit and a grass area for you to relax on and enjoy the sunshine and Sussex wildlife here at The Secret Campsite.
The Secret Campsite is in a secluded location in a beautiful setting with great access to cycling, walking and exploring the South Downs. It is a perfect base to explore Sussex and visit local beaches, historical houses and gardens and enjoy the vibrant and historic town of Lewes.
The Tree Tent is £120 per night and the Gridshell is £115 per night for 2 people, a charge is made for additional guests. Camping is £19 per adult per night and children aged 5 - 16 years is £9.50 per night and under 3's go free.
