Standard midweek rates per night for 2 people start from £65 in stable Stephanie midweek to £120 weekend in yurt Bronwyn. There are reasonable surcharges for additional guests and dogs. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming and it's worth asking if there are any current offers or specials.
Tanycoed Farm, just outside the village of Llansilin, Powys near Oswestry is home to Barnutopia, three Mongolian yurts, two stable, a shepherd's hut and a bunkroom. Glamping units are fully furnished with beds for 4 to 10 people. Bunkroom Bethan operates more like a hostel, where you book a bed in a shared room and bring your own sleeping bag. For exclusive use, book all 10 beds and receive a discount.
Most guests choose to mainly self-cater with some breakfasts and the occasional evening meal ordered from Barnutopia. The all-you-can-eat breakfast includes homemade pancakes, bacon, sausages, baked beans, scrambled eggs, toast, tea, coffee and orange juice at £7.50 each for adults.
Bronwyn is a 5 metre yurt and can accommodate up to 6 guests on beds. Carianne and Nanny Iris are 4.2 metres and sleep up to 4 people on beds. On request, the hosts are very happy to allow additional occupancy on camping mats or a camping cot.
Stable Stephanie sleeps 4 in a king bed and double sofa bed and stable Steve sleeps 6 in a double bed, bunk bed and double sofa bed. Both are located in a long stable block dating from 1892. The stables have power, lighting and heating as the yurts.
Cabin Connie, a shepherd's hut, sleeps 5 in a triple bunk and double sofa bed.
Bunkroom Bethan sleeps 10 on 2 bed platforms (4 over 6 places) with single mattresses. It has a small kitchenette and seating area.
There are several fire pits for campfires or cooking and a range of outdoor furniture available for use.
The bathroom is in farmhouse and has a power shower, toilet and hand basin. There are 2 additional portable toilet (the nice flushing kind) are installed to handle increased demand. It should ne noted that while the shower is excellent, it is not designed to be used by all guests on site every day. If you would like daily showers this may not be the best venue for you.
Smoking is allowed outside the yurts, tent, shared facilities and farmhouse.
Groups of up to 39 possible and up to 50 if additional tents are added.
