A beautiful restored windmill tower in the picturesque South Hams countryside, four miles inland from the beaches at Torbay, offers unique and secluded accommodation for 2+. Set in its own five-acre field with no near neighbours, it's a romantic hide-away or explorer's base, the perfect place for a get-away-from-it-all holiday. Yet within reach of sleepy moorland villages, bustling maritimes, toytown railways and historic castles.
On the ground floor is the main living space with excellent cooking facilities, comfy leather sofa and extra fold-up bed. The first floor has a double bedroom with a Victorian bed, double-sprung mattress and goose-down duvet, and Dartmoor views. The second floor has a large bathroom with oval bath and shower over, again with lovely views. Right at the top is the 'Miller's Eye', a room with two comfortable chairs and TV. It is reached by an space-saver staircase and has splendid panoramic views of the South Hams hills, Dartmoor and Torbay. Borrow the binoculars to watch ponies pass in the lane, look a buzzard in the eye, or take in 400 square miles of countryside and wildlife.
Outside is a grassed area with seating and a millstone table, from which you can look out over the hills and farmland. There is a car parking area. Sometimes it is possible to add a tent. There are good pubs within a mile or so.
Please note that the mill is ideal for adult couples. There is one double bedroom and curious stairs. Very small children or those with walking difficulties, take care. Sorry no pets, no smoking.
3, 4 or 7 night stays are possible with arrivals on Monday or Friday. Prices start at £400 for a short break to £750 for peak weeks.
