Check Availability

Come and see the Northern Lights... This unique single storey property adjacent to the lighthouse tower at Strathy Point, Sutherland has three double bedrooms (one with bunk beds) accommodating 6 people in comfort, plus bathroom, separate toilet, lounge, study and modern fully equipped kitchen. The property has full central heating with numerous views across the East of the point out to the Atlantic. There is ample parking at the foot of the lighthouse steps and use of a single garage for storing boats and boards etc…

Built in 1958, this listed lighthouse just out on a remote and exposed peninsula between Cape Wrath and John O'Groats, the meeting point of the North Atlantic and the North sea. There are breath taking views from some of the rooms and bracing walks are to be had along the wild beaches at Strathy, Melvich Bay and Farr Bay.

From the ever playful seals and dolphins to the majesty of the whales gliding by on their annual pilgrimage, Strathy Point never disappoints. The sea fishing riches extend from the plentiful Pollock, Dogfish and seasonal Mackerel, to the larger Cod, Skate and conga eels with Crab and Lobster inhabiting the fingers of the point. An abundance of gulls some taking residence in the rocky crags of Garbh-eilean island off the point, with the Gannets demonstrating their aerodynamics on the unsuspecting shoals below.

A walk over the headland reveals the old fishing station, a single anchor standing alone as a memorial to all that have worked these waters. The blue salmon cobbles moored up for the last time, refuge for the plovers and ahead lies the vast expanse of Strathy beach, its golden sands stretching over a quarter of a mile, with caves to explore and the backdrop of the dunes awash with wild flowers. A placid sheltered beach in the summer months but a recognised surfer destination when the weather decides to have some fun!

Tracking up the Strathy river from its confluence with the sea, follow in the footsteps of the famed Scottish Salmon, who’s Atlantic adventures draw to a close in these warm and peaty waters, and perhaps time to dangle a line with the permit in hand!

Stand on the dramatic, scenic North coast of Scotland where peace and tranquillity are framed with wonderful scenery...There are numerous photos of Strathy and the surrounding area so please google for views various...

My partner and I have been twice now to Daniel's beautiful home. It has become one of our favorite getaway places. Just everything feels right, about this place, the location, the marine themed decor, how it is furnished, equipped, layed out and so lovingly well looked after. We tend to go in the low season and have both times had stunning weather in February and September. Peaceful restoration each time. We'll be back. Thanks.

We've just spent a fabulous week in the Lighthouse Keeper's cottage. It was everything we expected; superbly comfortable and amazing to be able to watch the wildlife all week (particularly the whales each morning). The whole process from booking through to arranging access upon arrival and finding the Lighthouse via the excellent directions Daniel gave was really easy. We would highly recommend this, a wonderful break!
