What a surprise

I booked The Guards Van for a three night break as a surprise for my wife, she had no idea where or what the accommodation would be. As you can imagine she was surprised, pleasantly so when we entered the van. It is Tardis like and adequately spacious for two with three rooms, a modern shower and toilet room, large kitchen sitting room and a double bedroom. Outside is a private patio area with a hot tub which we used even though it was only the beginning of March and it was cold outside.
The hamper of breakfast ingredients was a total surprise on the first morning containing all that was needed for a full English each morning of our stay, including coffee, bread, butter and jams.
This was in addition to the warm continental pastries and orange juice delivered each morning by our friendly hosts, Louise and Jim.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to any couple seeking a break in the North East.
There is just one point of note, this is not a criticism but there is no storage accommodation in the van so you will need to live out of your suitcases which can be hidden away under the double bed.
Fantastic

What a fantastic little gem!
Idyllic location, peace and quiet, beautifully restored to very high specifications, and the hostess really could not have been any more welcoming.
Every little detail has been thought of, right down to handily located hooks on which to hang your complimentary dressing gown when you climb into the private hot tub. And the plastic champagne flutes and wine glasses to use outside (glass ones also available) and even a bbq!
Beautiful breakfast hamper provided, as well as warm fresh pastries each morning.
The interior of the van is to a very high standard, and the outside area is beautiful too. Tastefull decorated with excellent facilities. Can't wait to visit again! Brilliant way to celebrate your 30th birthday with your significant other.

This place is fantastic. The little added touches add up to 5 stars for me. Host are brilliant and the breakfast basket was a feast in itself without the daily delivery of hot fresh pastries. The Guards Van is just as it is in the photographs and with the added benefit of your own secluded hot tub what more could you want for a romantic getaway. Highly recommended ( but do leave a weekend later on for me)
