The West Usk Lighthouse

The lighthouse is only two hours' drive from London, situated between Newport and Cardiff, overlooking both The Usk and the Severn Estuaries and The Bristol Channel. It was bought when it was semi-derelict in 1987. The lantern room was restored in 1997. The lighthouse is now a grade II listed building. and is over 180 years old. As it is exposed to the elements, the restoration work is never finished.

The tides come rushing in twice a day, so the landscape is never the same. Sunsets and sunrises and full moons are spectacular. Cows and wild horses roam the surrounding fields and in the summer the crops are beautifully colourful.

The lighthouse is suitable for small groups of family, friends, hen nighters and couples. If there is a group staying, the lighthouse is only available to them. The maximum group for overnight stays is 8 adults plus 2 children on a sofabed.

WEDDINGS - You can even get married here and use the Rolls Royce for transport to a local restaurant. The civil ceremony is only for 25 guests.

There is a room with a waterbed and a couple with 4 poster beds. All have en-suite facilities, colour TV, and tea/coffee making facilities. The rooms are wedge-shaped. A stone spiral staircase takes you to the first floor where all the rooms to let are.

Just to add to the quirkiness of this place there is a life size Dalek, a Dr Who Tardis and a few telephone boxes.

There is a sauna and holistic healing also hypnosis sessions can be arranged.
