Description

Retreat to the countryside at the 16th century mill turned country escape and enjoy true peace and tranquility near Ilminster. Sleeping up to 6 guests, enjoy it as a romantic break with your partner or bring the family for a memory making experience. This is a truly authentic and unique stay as there have been few changes since the mill was built - no central heating, the floors are open and the space enjoys natural air-conditioning.

Set on the banks of the River Isle, this rural idyll offers you the chance to kick back and relax and enjoy the sounds of nature around you. The mill itself sleeps up to 6 in 3 bedroom areas set over 3 floors. The ground floor holds an open plan rustic kitchen diner, separate double bedroom, plus a bath and compost toilet.

The first floor has a double bed, WC, shower and a single wood burner stove to keep you warm on the chillier nights. Note that this bedroom only has a ceiling height of 5ft5 inches so care needs to be taken! Up the wooden stairs (these are fairly steep) and you come to the piece de resistance! The attic room will have you gasp in wonder with its exposed beams, original wheel feature and the choice of a king size or twin beds. Again please note there are 2 beams that you will need to duck under here!

Outside you can relax on the terrace and enjoy dining al fresco. Alternatively explore the small holding and say hello to the sheep and chickens or take delight in picking some home grown vegetables for your dinner. Why not pack a picnic and take out the kayaks on the river, the perfect way to explore the local area.

The mill is located in an area rich in activities. Historians will not only love this building, but will enjoy the rich pickings of National Trust properties in the area. Meanwhile the cider lovers will enjoy a trip to one of the local cider mills for some taste tests. Alternatively, hire a bike and ride to one of the many traditional pubs or restaurants in the area or explore the beautiful Blackdown Hills with their valleys and forests, rivers and streams.
