Nestling beside the river this little cottage is in the heart of nature yet centrally placed for exploring west Cornwall
Mill Office Cottage is an imaginative conversion for 2 people of the former Mill Office, a really pretty spot with a Japanese garden in Ponsanooth, Cornwall.
Enjoy this tranquil spot, surrounded by nature, the river Kennall runs past the door, if you are lucky you will see the kingfisher flash by or catch site of the dippers coming to feed. In spring the woods are full of bluebells and in summer yellow iris and gunnera thrive beside the water's edge. Situated next to a private nature reserve in an Area of Outstanding Beauty and World Heritage Site this is a lovely area to explore. There have been Mills here since the 15th century.
The sitting room is large and bright with a Victorian feel, from this room behind secret panelling, which disguises a door you go down some steps to the kitchen where you will find the small but perfectly formed kitchen and bathroom here all is bespoke slate and craftsmen-made wood. Open the kitchen door and you will find your own private wild garden a simple oak bench and granite stepping stones down to the river.
To the other side of the Office cottage is a cluster of traditional Mill buildings of Cornish granite. Cross the little bridge over the Mill leat and you can sit under the bay tree in the Japanese style garden, with the calming water of the Mill pond on two sides and the big Wheel just behind. On a good day, this spot is a real sun trap. For less clement weather you might prefer the comfy sofa in the library just opposite in the old Millers cottage. The broadband router is here or you can use the wifi and tv/dvd player in the cottage.
Included is bed linen, "faith in nature" toiletries, set of towels one hand one bath, (please bring own beach towels), kitchen essentials and welcome tray.
The cottage is well placed to explore Cornwall with many North and South coast beaches an easy drive. Alternatively, it is just a short walk to the nearby village where there are regular bus services around the area. (For car-free visitors booking through QuirkyAccom.com. the owners can offer a pick up from the train station in an electric car).
Priced from £300 to £600 for a week. 7-night minimum stay in August with Saturday changeover day other times short breaks with a 3-night minimum stay off peak.
