Oak Grove Retreats at Doldowlod Old Station Caravan Park is in the heart of Mid-Wales, 3 miles south of Rhayader across a meadow from the beautiful River Wye. The park offers great value unusual glamping accommodation in 2 vintage railway carriages as well as 3 cosy static holiday homes.

This site is in an idyllic area of stunning countryside while also being within a short distance of the many attractions that this part of mid-Wales has to offer including walking through the scenic landscape, fishing, bird watching, mountain biking and a number of other great outdoor activities. It is in a World Dark Sky Park in the Cambrian Mountains and 200 yards from the River Wye.

For a special glamping experience, there is the Vintage 1920's Cambrian Railway Box Carriage which has stunning views of the River Wye meadow and the Cambrian mountains. It has a king-size bed, wood burner, TV/DVD and everything you need for self-catering. The box carriage is fully insulated so it keeps very warm and there is also an electric convector heater if you prefer not to light the burner. There is a lovely decked balcony and outside furniture.

The Vintage 1940's London, Midland, Scottish Guards Van is set on rails at the station platform. It has a coal-burning stove, a double guards bed (which can be changed into a twin bed), a bench/sofa with rugs & cushions, an electric oven, grill & hob plus everything that you need for self-catering. Also provided is a flat-screen wall-mounted Freeview TV/DVD. On the balcony, there is a butler sink with running water and fold-away table and chairs. 

Heated and lockable WC and shower rooms for the carriages can be found just 15 yards away. 

Within 10 minutes drive is the Victorian spa town of Llandrindod Wells plus, Rhayader and the picturesque Elan Valley are just 3&4 miles away respectively. Hay on Wye famous for its bookshops and the world-famous Hay Festival is 30 minutes away and 1 hour of driving past spectacular mountains and countryside will bring you to the glorious seaside resort of Aberystwyth. For convenience, you will find a petrol station, mini supermarket and a café just 200 yards from the park.

At the entrance to the park, there is the log cabin reception where you will be welcomed to the park: here there is lots of local information.

The site is pet-friendly but dogs must be on a lead at all times and are charged at £15 per pet per stay. Adults only. Wifi is available on a Pay-as-you-Go £7 per week tariff. Barbecues are allowed.

Prices for the Box Carriage and the Guards Van start from £60 for 1 night, from £160-£210 for a 3-night weekend or a 4-night weekday break and from £260-£320 per week.
