Award-winning Rail Holiday at St Germans offers 4 quality accommodations options to create a delightful holiday in a picturesque Cornish village near the coast. In a separate location at the former goods yard at Hayle Station there is converted train carriage with many original features, sleeping 2 to 14 (if taking East and West ends).

The 4 accommodations at St Germans are as follows -

The Travelling Post Office sits beside the village station. It was featured in the BBC's Great British Railway Journeys with Michael Portillo. It's a Victorian coach with Clerestory windows along the full length of the coach offering a special feeling of light and space, whilst retaining the cosiness of a wooden coach. This self catering accommodation can sleep up to 6 people. There is a double bedroom, a bunk room with 2 bunks, a galley style kitchen with fridge, hob and microwave/conventional over etc and a shower room with flushing toilet. The dining/lounge area has colour TV/DVD and hi-fi with seating converted into a double bed or 2 singles. There is an enclosed garden with seating and BBQ facilities.

The Old Luggage Van, for 2, is a journey into the past without leaving home comforts behind. It is located in an enclosed garden adjoining the station platform at St Germans. There is a double bedroom, lounge/dining area with TV/DVD and hi-fi, fireside chairs and woodburning stove, galley kitchen and shower and WC.

Mevy, the Victorian Slip Coach, is designed with families of up to 5 in mind and has several features unique to the coach, including a sumptuous first class bedroom compartment, a proper bath with ball and claw feet and a traditional cooker in the kitchen. The second bedroom has bespoke triple bunk beds, ample electric heating included, a garden area with seating and BBQ facilities.

Mevy is not on a trackside location, but instead looks out to the river and rolling hills beyond.

Millpool is the latest self catering holiday carriage on offer - new in 2017. It is fully disabled accessible with a dedicated car parking space adjacent to the carriage with level, step-free access to the accommodation. It is also suitable for the able-bodied and retains much of its railway carriage charm. Sleeps 2, with double bedroom (or single adjustable bed) plus another single/sofabed in the lounge diner area and has a wetroom with ample hot water. There is central heating and a galley kitchen, plus enclosed patio and garden area with BBQ facilities. All energy, linen, towels and water included in the price.

There is use of a children's play area, games room with air hockey table, maching machine, dryer and freezer plus unrestricted free broadband access. A cot and high chair can be used at no extra cost.

Dogs can be accepted with prior arrangement, accept in Mevy.

St German's is a small village with a population of 600. There is a great village pub, a community shop and Post Office. The quay, with the viaduct towering above it and its sailing club, is a popular spot. The old part of the village, which includes the railway station, is virtually unspoilt and has been made a Conservation Area.

Guests have access to 10 acres of woodland. Rail Holiday St Germans have won Sustainable Tourism and Wildlife-Friendly awards.

Harvey at Hayle is a 1950s compartment coach with many original features including compartments, lamp shades, luggage racks, mirrors, blinds and upholstery. It is great for families with a signal box play house, garden, swings and toys. The carriage is divided into 2 separate lets at the central cross corridor by lockable sliding doors. Outside of the summer holidays the carriage will be let to one group at a time with a reduced rate for those only needing one end of it. The West end sleeps 6 and the East sleeps 8.

There is an enclosed garden with BBQ and wooden sundeck on each end, well equipped kitchen, TV/DVD and CD player. Dogs welcome.

Reviews:
Lovely hosts

I had met Lizzy and had a look around Harvey in Hayle a couple of years ago, but this year I got to experience what great hosts she and her family are first hand. I recently stayed at their St Germans property - lovingly created train carriages and extremely handy for the Port Eliot festival and a Cornish getaway.
Thank you for everything!
