Autumn / Winter offer for MK1 - 2 nights from £325 and 7 nights from £400

Why not come and stay on the beautiful Kent and East Sussex border in the converted MK1 railway carriage originally built in 1962 or a wagon which started life as a War Department vehicle in 1944. Not only will you be staying in a charming railway carriage but the village of Northiam provides a fantastic base for you to explore the local countryside and coast, with attractions and activities to suit everyone.

There is also an Ammunition Wagon dating back to 1944 that sleeps 2+2, as well as a GWR Brake Wagon - both listed separately under 'TOAD Brake Van & Ammunition Wagon' on QuirkyAccom.com.

Both carriages are situated within Northiam Steam Railway Station, a working station on the Kent and East Sussex steam railway line. You don't even need to leave the carriage to get the full railway experience as the steam trains will pull up at the station just 20 ft away!

The MK1 railway carriage sleeps up to 6 people with 1 family bathroom, 1 en-suite bathroom, a fully functional kitchen, two double bedrooms, a bunk room for kids and an open plan lounge/dining area. We also have the added extra of an elevated glass balcony giving you the opportunity to get the best view of the station, railway line, surrounding countryside and the beautiful sunsets.

The 1944 War Department vehicle, built by Charles Roberts & Co. is now a converted railway accommodation which comfortably sleeps 2 adults - plus 2 children if required. Amenities include a double bed, sofa bed, en-suite shower room/WC, TV with Freeview, tea and coffee making facilities, sink, multiple power sockets & heating for those chilly winter months.

Both located in a very nice spot, with many different local attractions to suit all ages, visits to Bodiam Castle, Rye, Camber Sands, Hastings, and activities such as Kayaking.

Parking on site for up to 2 cars, there is also a boating station where you can get your own kayak and travel up the river.

There is a 2-night minimum stay. No pets.

Now it's your chance to have a holiday with a bit of a difference with this beautiful and unique MK1 railway carriage. Starting from £450 for 7 nights and £350 for 2 nights.

Also, see TOAD Brake Van & Ammunition Wagon on QuirkyAccom for additional accommodation.

We booked this for our Fathers 80th Birthday so we could take him on the steam train.
A beautiful converted carriage, which has been modified to a high spec. Everything that you could need for a weekend stay. The carriage was very warm and cosy and the beds were lovely. Nothing negative to say about this accommodation, all very positive and would recommend it to anyone. Thank you
Thank you

We have just spent a delightful two night stay with some wonderful friends at this quirky accommodation .
It was a birthday present for my husband (The man Who has everything ) from them. We were met at the train carriage by the young owners and welcomed a board, They had done the refurbishment themselves, we found the carriage very comfortable and equipped to a high standard and well thought out . We Would recommend this for a couple of nights stay if you fancy something a little different . Well done in bringing an old train carriage back to life .
