The shepherd's hut sleeps two and is situated within its own woodland in a 5-acre field. It offers a unique experience to really get away from it all, the perfect romantic retreat. The whole experience of staying here is enhanced if you choose to take a soak in the woodburning hot tub!

Your only visitors will the wildlife in the area including deer, rabbits, pheasants, squirrels, weasels, bats, red kites, buzzards, curlew and lapwings. You may be greeted when you enter and leave the site by the very inquisitive alpacas and hill racing chickens.

The hut is off-grid. It is insulated with sheep's wool and has double glazing so can be used all year round. A wood-burning stove provides heat and can boil a kettle or be cooked upon.

The loo and basin are nearby and you have the option of showering inside the owner's home or experience the wonderful freedom of an outdoor shower.

Equidistant between Ripon to the north and Harrogate to the south there are many wonderful attractions nearby. There is a regular bus that serves the village which runs from Ripon to Leeds via Harrogate. If you're really keeping your carbon footprint down you can even get to the hamlet by bus. We stayed for 4 nights last week, and I cannot express how wonderful this place is. In its bluebell glade sits the most tranquil retreat. With the right mix of self sufficiency and glamping luxury, Jo has thought of everything. Toasting croissants on the fire for breakfast and stargazing from the hut tub. 5 min walk to the bus stop or the local pub the choice is yours to hide away or go off on an adventure. Can not wait to return.

This is the place to stay for a warm welcome, a great breakfast and the cosiest shepherd's hut anyone could imagine. The setting is everything the website promised and more: early morning frosts on the grass, lots of wildlife to spot and yes-the shepherd's delight: a pink sky (oops it was in the morning!)
In just three days we have managed to trek around Patley Bridge (Brimham Rocks are tremendous) enjoy Harrogate Turkish Baths and Fountains Abbey; we still have Betty's tearooms in Harrogate to return for.....
Wonderful retreat

My husband and I stayed in the wonderful Shepherds Delight Hut for 2 nights the end of February.
The hut is in beautiful surroundings, with all you'd could possibly need. Joanne has thought of everything
The walk through the alpaca field was always fun as they stop what their doing to check out whos passing!
Its is so lovely and cosy, the wood burner is fantastic and really heats up well. The fire pit was great too, we toasted marshmallows (which luckily Joanne had thought of as we forgot to bring any) and drank wine while relaxing in the middle of (nearly) nowhere.
There's a few good pubs about and Harrogate is only a short drive away.
Shepherds Delight is a great little retreat for a quiet weekend away, we will be back soon.
