During the 1800s shepherd's huts were a familiar sight in rural England. The Victorians made them to provide shelter for herdsmen. Nowadays they provide charming holiday accommodation. Stay at Shepherds Hut Bilsdale in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park for a romantic break for 2 or as a base to explore the local area which is great for walking, biking, fishing, horseriding or visiting the nearby market towns of Stokesley and Helmsley. In Chop Gate there is a pub and restaurant.

The Shepherd's Hut is traditionally built. It is simple in design but has a comfortable double bed and a wood burner to heat and boil a kettle. From inside you can look across the dale or sit outside in your own seating area with a BBQ. Adjacent is a toilet, shower and kitchenette. You can choose between self-catering or a breakfast hamper can be provided so you can cook yourself breakfast as it suits you.

The cost of one night is £60, and further nights are £50. A 7 night stay costs £310 (one free night). Special rates for single occupancy available. No smoking / No animals / No TV or internet.

Stay on the farm in April when they are lambing and you may well see lambs being born.

Visited in October 2017,wonderful welcome. We would recommend the breakfast hamper, vegitarians catered for. Good phone reception if you need it on 02 (4G) and vodaphone. Excellent kitchen and shower room accessed without stepping outside, very clever design. Very warm with log burner alight.
Board games and a radio for entertainment.

Cannot rate this place highly enough. It is situated in the most peaceful and beautiful place with such thoughtful accommodation. The personal touches are lovely and you feel very special.

The perfect romantic getaway.

Owners are very helpful and nothing is a problem.

This is our second visit and a third visit has already been planned.

Such a beautiful place, and the owners were more than accommodating.

We were lucky enough to see some lambs being born to.

Stayed nearly a year ago now, and just awaiting a perfect weekend to go back.

Very reasonably priced, beautiful decor, clean, fantastic hosts - couldn't ask for more for a cheap, romantic weekend getaway :)
