Originally built around 1270, this ancient gatehouse for 2 was beautifully refurbished in 2008. The historic gatehouse has plenty of character with original wooden beams, stone mullion windows and stunning views from the roof tower. It is the ideal romantic getaway and is perfect for exploring South Wales.

The gatehouse is located in Mathern, only a few miles from the English border. There are many fantastic walking trails to enjoy in the area and Caerleon is worth a visit too. The nearest pub is a short walk away and there is a selection of restaurants within a 10-minute drive from the property.

The Welsh Gatehouse comprises of an open plan kitchen, living and dining area, a wet room and a gallery bedroom accessed via a companionway ladder. Outside the gatehouse is surrounded by a pretty shared garden and there is a roof tower with fantastic views.

Facilities include woodburner, heating, internet access, TV with Freeview, DVD, CD, iPod dock facility, radio, washing machine, tumble dryer and parking for 2 cars.

No children. There are many steps, not suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

The per night price alters depending on the length of stay. Between £165-£200 for a one night stay. Between £490 - £644 for a full week stay.
