Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the Gatehouse will be decontaminated prior to the commencement of ALL guest bookings. A thermal fogging machine will be used to treat every room with an antiviral disinfectant, which is effective against Coronavirus.
The fogging process is designed so that a whole room can be treated, including walls, floors and furniture.
The disinfectant that we use is effective within 5 minutes, is fragrance-free and treated surfaces are safe for human contact.

Originally built around 1270, this ancient gatehouse for 2 was beautifully refurbished in 2008. The historic gatehouse has plenty of character with original wooden beams, stone mullion windows and stunning views from the roof tower. It is the ideal romantic getaway and is perfect for exploring South Wales.
The gatehouse is located in Mathern, only a few miles from the English border. There are many fantastic walking trails to enjoy in the area and Caerleon is worth a visit too. The nearest pub is a short walk away and there is a selection of restaurants within a 10-minute drive from the property.
The Welsh Gatehouse comprises of an open plan kitchen, living and dining area, a wet room and a gallery bedroom accessed via a companionway ladder. Outside the gatehouse is surrounded by a pretty shared garden and there is a roof tower with fantastic views.
Facilities include Woodburner, heating, internet access, TV with Freeview, DVD, CD, iPod dock facility, radio, washing machine, tumble dryer and parking for 2 cars.
No children. There are many steps, not suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
The price for one night in low season is £199, 2 nights is £320 and 3 nights is £390. In high season one night costs £240, 2 nights £416, 3 nights £507. For stays of 4-7 nights, the nightly rate is £130-£150 a night depending on the season. So a week in low season is £910 to £1050 in high season.
High season includes Valentines Day, Easter, May Bank Holidays, Summer Bank holiday and the Christmas period. With a supplement for Xmas Day and New Year's Eve.
Minimum 2-night stay price on Bank Holiday Weekends and 4 nights minimum stay over the Christmas period.
