Wheelwright's Shop is an authentic Craftsmen's Workshop from the Powis Estate with history dating back to 1840. It has since been converted into a charming cottage overlooking a lake for a couple, although 2 more can sleep on a sofabed.
Step inside the large bifold doors to find a bright open plan living, dining and kitchen area fit with a number of quirky objects such as wooden carvings and craftsmen’s tools to discover. This space offers a double sofa bed (which can be partitioned with heavy curtains for privacy), a wood burning stove and Aga to add warmth in the cooler evenings. Venture up the beautiful handmade staircase to find the cosy double bedroom on a mezzanine level with a sloping roof and charming wooden beams.
Bedding and towels are provided. Additional camp beds and travel cots can be arranged on request. Dogs welcome.
The cottage is set in the Walcot estate where you can be kept busy for hours exploring the beautiful arboretum, both for the ancient trees and hidden treasures. Alternatively you can visit the nearby historic castles and market towns.
