A childhood of classic cars, vintage farm equipment and steam engines is how I came to own my own shepherds hut. Ever since I was small living on a farm we were surrounded by these things. Taken to see the large traction engines on a demonstration day ploughing or thrashing corn, usually tucked away in the corner was a shepherds hut or road wagon which as a child for me became a fort or a hide out.

Eventually I grew up... but always in the back of my mind was the memory of the shepherds hut sitting in the corner of the field. Then I found out about glamping and the realisation that I could have a shepherd’s hut of my very own, so long as I could persuade my parents to let me have some space on the campsite.

We have a prize lucky winner - Linda Moulding from West Sussex!

Once again, we are launching a Competition giveaway that gives you the option to choose your final destination. This time we are partnering with Quality Unearthed - a glamping agency with many amazing properties in England & Wales....treehouses, cabins, luxury tents, cottages and more. Like us they embrace the unusual, so you wont find it hard to find the perfect place for you.

They are offering QuirkyAccom visitors the chance to win a £500 voucher to put towards your next chosen break away. See their selection of amazing stays on QuirkyAccom here and check the T&Cs at the bottom of the page.

Here are a few of our favourites to tempt you....(click image for more info)

wildlotusWhen I met Paul and Vennetta at the Glamping Show exhibition last year, one glimpse of their business card was enough for me to declare - I will see you there! My sister was equally won over and after a brief convincing of lovely husbands to stay home with the kids, we were ready to book....a stay right on one of the most beautiful sandy beaches in Antigua. One of 365 on the island in fact!

Wild Lotus Glamping is the only under canvas glamping on Antigua, and there are only a few other similar options in the Caribbean. One big advantage of choosing Antigua is that the people are very friendly - it is considered to be safe - and they work hard to give a tourist a good experience. This added to the other attractions - the hot yet comfortable climate in February and turquoise ocean next to pale sand literally on our doorstep.

We are delighted that Jess, our founder and CEO, has been nominated for the VisitEnglandTourism Superstar Award 2019.
There are 10 finalists to choose from. Each has been filmed 'at work' and these videos will highlight the reason why they promote English tourism and shine in what they do.
View Jess' intro video for a bit of fun and to find out more. The Mirror is working with VisitEngland to drum up interest in these Tourism Superstars before the final vote for the winner at the beginning of April. Help us get some votes for Jess and get the message out there about QuirkyAccom.com.
Jess chose to make her film debut at The Harpy - the largest and oldest houseboat in London!
